Become a FAMS Certified Expert!

The Fairbanks Aurora & Midnight Sun (FAMS) online training program is designed to educate travel agents and tour operators on all that Fairbanks the Interior of Alaska has to offer their clients as a year-round destination. This year we will be introducing a new program called “Agents Gallantly Exploring Northern Tourism” or “AGENT”.

The training has been separated into four (4) parts with a quiz following each part and a final quiz at the conclusion of the final presentation. Participants that attend all four trainings and complete all the quizzes will have a chance to join a familiarization (FAM) tour in Fairbanks! There will be two (2) AGENT FAM Tours per year (one winter and one summer). Details can be found below.

Conducted by the Explore Fairbanks Tourism Department, each training will cover various topics that showcase the destination’s main selling points for everyone from independent visitors to group tours. The four webinars are:

• General Training (Become FAMS Certified)
• Midnight Sun & Denali Fun
• Aurora Capital & Winter Wonderland
• Odds & Ends and Current Events

To register for the training programs, please click the appropriate link below. All trainings will be held at 10:00 am (Alaska Time). Please register even if you are not able to attend the live webinar; we will send you a link to the recording once it has been completed. A “FAMS Certificate” will be sent to all participants who attend the General Training and take the quiz (for those who are only interested in the General Training).

AGENT FAM Tour Requirements & Information

Participants that attend all four trainings and complete all quizzes will be considered as potential participants for the Explore Fairbanks AGENT FAM Tour. Those with the highest total score at the end of the series will receive priority. This year’s training will lead into the FAM Tour that will be held July 22-29, 2024. The FAM Tour will include accommodations, local transportation, activities and meals.

Explore Fairbanks will NOT able to provide air transportation to or from Fairbanks. Participants that wish to attend the AGENT FAM Tour will need to arrange their own air transportation to and from Fairbanks. Note: Airline discount codes may be available at the time of booking.
