Greetings Western Chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers,
We are excited to welcome you to our winter wonderland! Be spirited away by the captivating light of the aurora borealis, see two-ton blocks of ice turned into astonishing sculptures and enjoy exhilarating experiences like dog mushing, walking with reindeer or fishing a frozen lake. You’ll also visit Santa in North Pole, indulge in handcrafted spirits and excellent cuisine, learn about the rich heritage of Alaska’s indigenous cultures and discover the warmth of an Alaska hot spring at the end of an adventure-filled day.
The host hotel is the wonder-filled and locally owned Pike’s Waterfront Lodge. Pike's is located on the Chena River which runs through Fairbanks and is home to the new Aurora Conservatory viewing room and an outstanding collection of Alaskan art masterpieces. Moreover, Pike's offers an Alaskan library and theatre, billiards, an aromatherapy steam room and dry sauna as well as bocce ball and a fire pit. Lastly, Pike's has delicious cookies and coffee in the delightful lobby and gives guests tokens for a daily scoop of ice cream. What more could you ask for?
