Homestead Cabin Trips

Experience a real Alaskan homestead.  We offer all-inclusive stays in your very own cabin on a bluff overlooking the Tanana River.  Spend your days mushing a dog team, snowshoeing, ice fishing, carving a wooden spoon, enjoying home-cooked meals in our cabin, taking in the sunset by an open fire, and if you’re lucky, basking in the northern lights.  This combination trip is our best value and most popular!

Winter Camping Trips

A big part of the joy of dog sledding is camping out with the dogs! Camping allows you to travel farther and be outside more. We use traditional handmade canvas wall tents with wood stoves and spruce bough floors. Learn camping basics like gathering firewood, water, and boughs and spend an unforgettable night in a cozy nest of boughs, caribou hide pads, and very warm down sleeping bags. These trips deliver unforgettable adventure.

Basecamp Trips

Gliding through a winter wonderland to the rhythm paws on snow and scrape of sled runners on ice is an unforgettable experience.  Our basecamp trips are designed to let you get to know an incredible place by camping there for multiple days. By day we explore by dogsled, snowshoe and ski and at night we retire to a cozy cabin or heated winter tent. Basecamp trips are run in multiple locations across Alaska’s Interior and Arctic.

Video about Building our Homestead

Why choose Alaska Homestead Adventures?

IMG_9423 (1).JPG
  • Personal- We only take one party at a time, so you have the place to yourselves and we can cater the trip to YOU. Guests rave about this on our reviews page.

  • Happy Dogs-We run fuzzy, friendly 60-100lb Alaskan Huskies, the kind of dogs that have been used for over a hundred years in Alaska.  Meet them on our dog page! We keep our dogs : people ratio around 5 : 1 to ensure that the dogs have a high quality of life and lots of attention.  Learn more about our commitment to dog care on our values page.

  • Experienced Owner/Guides- We are a family run operation working out of our home. We have been running this business since 2014. Both David and Jenna are experienced wilderness guides with training in wilderness medicine. Meet us on the guides page.

  • Ecotourism at its best- We are committed to sustainability practices and the reduction of fossil fuels in our business. We love this way of life and being able to pass it on to future generations is at the root of all of our decisions.

  • Cabin Lifestyle and Gear- We are real Alaskans who have built home from the ground up (felling trees!). We live year round in off-grid cabins where we chop ice for water, heat with wood, and build our sleds and clothing by hand.  We are happy to share this lifestyle with you.

  • All-inclusive Tours- All of our tours come with high quality warm weather clothing, home-cooked meals, hand-built lodging, world-class guding, and no need for googling! Our goal is to make you have to buy as little as possible and be comfortable when you spend time with us.
