About +-
The S.S. Nenana is the last wooden hull sternwheeler in the nation. She operated from 1933 to 1954 and was owned by the Alaska Railroad. The Nenana is on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and a U.S. National Historic Landmark. The cargo deck houses a 240-foot diorama depicting the 22 village the boat served. The display also showcases Alaska's native animals, adding to the educational experience. Friends of S.S. Nenana is proudly sponsored by the North Star Community Foundation.
