The Art of Garment Repair: Darning

Join artist Amy Meissner for an intimate workshop featuring the art of repair, with a focus on darning.

This craft practice, which uses a type of weaving to infill holes or reinforce worn areas, is widely applicable to all your family’s well-loved garments, from chunky knit sweaters to fine base layers, socks, gloves, and even torn mesh on backpacks or favorite running shoes. The class will consist of group repair evaluation, appropriate tutorials to address as many versions of this repair technique as possible, individual consultation, and time for group work.

No previous sewing experience necessary; sharing stories of brokenness and repair will be highly encouraged.
