Learn the art of tapestry weaving while recording weather data from past spring months in Fairbanks.

Using basic tapestry weaving techniques, we will create a small wall hanging with Tempestry yarns – color coded yarns used to accurately record temperature data. You may be familiar with the striped Tempestry scarves knitters work one row at a time, recording each day’s high temperature as a row of knitting. In the weaving version, we take a few more creative liberties and work collectively and collaboratively with the temperature data to create a group installation reflecting the changing spring season in Interior Alaska.

In this class, each student will weave one month of spring weather data that has already been recorded. Participants can choose a month from the spring season (March through May) of any year in the last 50 that is significant to them.
