Spoon Carving Basics

Instructor: Wesley Hathaway

Learn the basics of carving eating spoons.

To save on time and hand strength the class will be carving pre-made spoon blanks so we can focus more on learning to carve rather than processing and cutting wood.

Towards the end of class the instructor will briefly go over how to go from tree to spoon as well as caring for your tools.

Students are encouraged to purchase their own set of tools. They are inexpensive, last a lifetime and will allow you to enjoy the skills you’ve gained beyond this class.

If you have your own carving tools please bring them along. Tools will be available for purchase:

Sloyd knife: $33
Hook Knife: $24
Small straight knife: $18
Miscellaneous sharpening supplies

*Loaners will also be available.

Location: Pioneer Park - Workshop
