This class is for anyone who wants to spend a few hours turning the snow (which we all have to shovel anyway) into interesting artwork instead of just throwing it into a big, boring pile all the time.
The basic idea is pretty simple: think up a sculpture; make big wooden a box; pack the box full of snow; remove the box; carve the sculpture. As long as the sculpture isn’t too elaborate, no particular artistic skill is required.
This class will cover a bunch of tips and techniques to help you get to a finished sculpture before you get cold or bored and revert to throwing the snow into a big, boring pile.
Note: Students must be prepared to be outside working in the snow for a few hours.
Age range: 18 and up (kids ages 10 and up welcome with an adult co-learner. One adult may accompany up to two children.)
Location: Pioneer Park - Workshop
