About
+-

The Pioneers of Alaska will conduct the 78th Pedro Monument Dedication Ceremonies featuring George Lounsbury speaking on gold prospecting in the Brooks Range during the 1970's.

This free public event is the granddaddy of all the Golden Days Events hosted by the Fairbanks Igloos of the Pioneers of Alaska. Each July during Golden Days the Pioneers and public gather to honor the memory of Felix Pedro who was a member of the Pioneers of Alaska, at the place where Felix made his fabulous discovery of gold in the Tanana Valley on July 22, 1902.

This event is the oldest one of all the Golden Days Events and it is still being conducted just as it always has been. There are great costumes, lots of local history, traditional trail refreshments and a sense of reverence to the memory of Felix Pedro.

Mark your calendar and join us at this historical outdoor public event!
