From the streets of Havana to stages around the world, Pedro Pablo “Pedrito” Martínez is a master of Afro-Cuban folkloric music and the batá drum. Starting his musical journey at just 11 years old, Pedrito has performed with legends like Paul Simon, Wynton Marsalis, Bruce Springsteen, Sting, and Camila Cabello, contributing to over 75 albums along the way.

Since founding the Pedrito Martínez Group in 2005, he has captivated audiences with electrifying rhythms, infectious energy, and virtuoso percussion. Their self-titled debut album earned a Grammy nomination and was hailed by NPR and The Boston Globe as one of the year’s best. Pedrito himself has been named Jazz Percussionist of the Year multiple times by Jazz Times and the Jazz Journalists Association.
