How does a charter flight carrying two United States Congressmen just disappear into thin air? Why is it that after more than a half century of amazing technological advances we still don’t have any idea of the fate of the missing plane and its occupants? These questions have confounded the FBI, NTSB, FAA, Alaska State Troopers, United States Congress, the media, family members, pilots and many more over the past five decades. Is it possible today to locate this famous plane and close this ice-cold case?

Alaska pilot Jim Gibertoni set out to do exactly that, to locate the plane and the passengers and to find out what really occurred on that stormy October day in 1972 when a Cessna 310 piloted by Don Jonz disappeared with Congressmen Hale Boggs & Nick Begich and Begich's Aide Russel Brown on a flight that left Anchorage for Juneau.

Jim recruited his research partner and good friend Joan Skilbred, to assist in this arduous endeavor. Jim’s aviation background coupled with Joan’s research skills has coalesced into a new theory about the missing aircraft and the extraordinary story of what they think happened and why it was never found.

Together Jim and Joan have diligently worked many long hours on coming up with some possible answers to this mystery that are not taken from the pages of a Hollywood B-movie script, or local backyard fence gossip. They have focused mostly on facts from the NTSB Accident Report, aviation procedures & policies, search and rescue protocols, newspaper accounts, and the nature of the men who were involved in the crash itself.

This work has led to some new insights that have led Jim and Joan to a new theory about what happened to N1812H and to locate the missing aircraft and the men who occupied it. Now Jim and Joan are sharing the story and supporting documents they uncovered from the past, in their effort to set the record straight regarding this famous crash.
