New Weavers' Workshop

About
+-

Have you ever wondered how the colors, textures and patterns in handwoven textiles are created? Ever seen a loom with all of the harnesses, levers, cords and treadles and wonder how it all works? This is your chance to explore with the expert support of Fairbanks Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild instructors! In the New Weavers’ Workshop, we will create scarves and rugs, exploring how colors in the warp and weft interact with each other to create one of a kind pieces. Several instructors work together to provide plenty of support in a rich and interactive learning environment. Over the course of a weekend, you will learn to use a multi-shaft loom to create your own handwoven piece. If you need a little extra time to complete your project after the workshop is complete, the Guild also provides a free Open Studio once a week with instructors and other experienced weavers on hand to help.

All equipment and supplies will be provided.

No prior weaving experience is necessary, but a love of yarn is helpful!

Location: Fairbanks Weavers’ and Spinners’ Guild studio at the fairgrounds. Detailed instructions to get to the studio will be sent prior to class.
