Fairbanks First United Methodist Church is pleased to host a guest performance on Sunday, February 5, by professional saxophonist Maureen Walsh, as part of its Music & More series. A classical saxophone instructor and performing artist from the Washington DC area, Ms. Walsh will present a recital featuring Spanish music for the classical saxophone. Her selections for Music & More include pieces by Astor Piazzolla, Pablo de Sarasate, and Camille Saint-Saëns. She earned the Bachelor's and Master's degrees and Graduate Performance Diploma from Peabody Conservatory. Ms. Walsh teaches at the Levine School of Music and plays in the DC Capital Wind Symphony. Accompanying Ms. Walsh is the internationally renowned pianist Thomas Pandolfi. A Steinway recording artist and Juilliard graduate, Mr. Pandolfi is an active soloist and recitalist in the D.C. area and abroad, as well as maintaining a teaching studio. The recital will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 5, at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary at First United Methodist Church, located at 915 Second Avenue in downtown Fairbanks. This very special event will entertain the whole family. There is no admission charge, but donations are encouraged.
