Krista Christensen was a Denali National Park Artist-in-Residence for Winter 2018 and an Alaska State Parks Artist-in-Residence for 2019. Her essays have been nominated for Pushcart Prizes and named Notable in Best American Essays. Laureli Ivanoff is a fish cutter, seal oil maker and columnist in her hometown of Unalakleet, a community at the heart of the Norton Sound. Laureli writes about life and living in rural Alaska. Christine Byl is the author of Dirt Work: An Education in the Woods, which was shortlisted for the 2014 Willa Award in nonfiction. She has made her living as a professional trailbuilder for the past 23 years. She lives in Interior Alaska with her family and spends as much time as possible exploring wild places by foot, bike, skis, boat and dogs.
