Instructor Training Cohort: Kids Woodworking

About

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS: Learn to teach woodworking for kids!

"For more than 40 years, teaching woodworking to children has been the most powerfully positive activity I have engaged in as an educator.”

-Alex Brede

The Folk School is launching a pilot Instructor Development Program and Cohort to grow an enthusiastic community of instructors dedicated to teaching woodworking to young people. This program is designed to build teaching skills, deepen craft knowledge, and expand opportunities for kids’ woodworking education in Interior Alaska.

This is about more than making boats, boxes and dolls. It is about supporting the development of children, who will soon be adults, in understanding themselves and what they can be capable of.

Applications are open to anyone with enthusiasm for craft education, skill-sharing, and community learning, and a desire to teach kids woodworking classes in their community. No prior woodworking experience is required! Curiosity, patience, and a love of working with kids are the most important qualifications.

This program is by application: Please review the program details linked above for application instructions.
