As the leaves turn colors and the days get shorter, Alaskans know how the approaching winter season can impact them and their loved ones. Keeping ourselves and those around us healthy — both physically and mentally — is vital. Finding connection and taking care of each other is especially important this fall and winter as we’re still encouraged to keep our bubbles small. We’re asking you to join us over the next few weeks for the first GCI Wellness Challenge, encouraging you to take care of yourself and your neighbors.
The GCI Wellness Challenge will incorporate a virtual 5K run in addition to wellness activities like checking on a friend or cooking a healthy meal. At the end of the month, we’ll give away three prizes: iPad with keyboard and pencil; Samsung Note and a set of headphones; and Apple Watch. Log your run and challenges before Oct. 28 to be entered to win.
At GCI, we’re working to combat the statistics and help Alaskans take care of their mental health. Each year the GCI Suicide Prevention Fund contributes more than $100,000 to nonprofits across the state that support Alaskans and help prevent suicide. Together we can support our fellow Alaskans and help improve mental health throughout our state.
