Flint knapping is the art of reducing rock into tools such as arrowheads, knives, and spear points. We will cover the history of flint knapping, stone tools archaeology of Alaska, and dive deep into the techniques and mechanics of this art. Students will have the opportunity to break ample amount of rock and make multiple functional tools. We will primarily be working with obsidian, the sharpest material on earth.
