About

Founded in 1963, the Equinox Marathon is one of the oldest and most rugged marathons in the U.S. and is the premier running event in Interior Alaska. With most of the course on trails and a challenging climb up and over Ester Dome—and up and over it again!

The course begins at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and primarily follows trails and dirt roads past the summit of Ester Dome (elevation 2,323 ft.), then returns to the summit and drops to Henderson Rd. From there the course follows Henderson and Gold Hill Roads back to the university campus.

Whether you are a competitive runner, a recreational jogger, walker or hiker, there is simply not a more beautiful, yet challenging, course to race on in all of the United States.

Race starts at 8:00 AM - Finish Line closes at 6:00 PM; Awards Ceremony 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
