Dyeing a Cotton Color Wheel – Fiber Festival

Fairbanks Fiber Festival Class

Instructor: Karen Malone

In this class we will be dyeing 12 Kona 100% cotton fat quarters using Procion MX dyes and mixing the three primary colors to achieve a basic color wheel. Various methods of folding, scrunching, and using resists will be demonstrated and used.

You will be dying your fat quarters (fabric measuring approximately 18 x 22 inches) and you will be instructed on how to batch and rinse your finished dyed pieces. The class will give you a good foundation and introduction to the fun that can be had creating your own fabric. I believe we are all creative and if you have been curious about this art form or just need a refresher class on dyeing, this is a class for you.
