Clean Up Day

About
+-

Clean Up Day is a community wide volunteer initiative to clean up the trash uncovered by melting snow in the Fairbanks North Star Borough before tourist season begins.

Bags will be available Monday, April 17 at most local fire departments, Boy Scouts Midnight Sun Council (1400 Gillam Way).

Clean Up Day is earlier than ever! This May the Arctic Council will hold its Ministerial Meeting in Fairbanks, Alaska. The Arctic Council is composed of representatives of the 8 arctic nations and the 6 indigenous peoples of the circumpolar north, as well as 32 observing nations and organizations. The United States Secretary of State has held the chairmanship of the Arctic Council for the last 2 years, and at the Ministerial Meeting he will pass the chairmanship to Finland. We are expecting domestic and foreign cabinet-level officials, as well as hundreds of other attendees and up to 50 members of the national and international press to be in Fairbanks the week of May 8-12, and we want our community to SHINE!
