Instructor: Brian Sprague

This 3 hour session will provide a brief introduction to the essential anatomy and mechanical relationships of a chainsaw and quickly move into a discussion of the high percentage of failures in the field and their causes.

Basic diagnostic technique will be stressed and substantial time will be applied to hand filing the chain, as well as the effect of tooth type and geometry in different cutting conditions (species, frozen, dry, etc.). Anyone with a desire to learn these skills is welcome, and you are encouraged to bring a saw and dull chains (plus files with a handle, wrench, basic tools,etc.).
