Using scraps of fabric to make rugs (or chair pads) is an American tradition that goes back hundreds of years. When The Folk School recently received a large donation of wool fabric, we thought it was a perfect opportunity to create a unique learning experience – Learn to Give. In Learn to Give classes students will learn something new, but in exchange for reduced tuition they will donate the finished product back to The Folk School community. (The usual cost of instruction for this class would be $175, but we are offering it for just $60.)
In this class, students will learn the art of braiding wool for rugs by making a round chair pad that will be used on the wooden chairs in our log cabin. Students will keep all the implements needed for braiding rugs (paid for in the materials fee), so that they can go on to make their own rug at home, but the chair pad made in the class will be given to The Folk School.
Location: Pioneer Park - Cabin 66 - Back Room
Pre-registration required by January 1st.
