Basic Fly Casting

In this three-session class, students will learn proper fly casting techniques for the simple overhead cast and the roll cast. The class is suitable for beginning or experienced fly fishers. We will focus on the basic casting stroke and the formation of smooth casting loops.

fly castingThe first class will include a brief overview of fly fishing equipment and then practice of the pick-up and lay-down cast. During the second two classes we will cover false casting, hauling and shooting line, and the roll cast. This course will provide the student with enough basic knowledge of fly casting to be able to fly fish effectively in our local waters.

Classes will be held on the back lawn at the Pump House Restaurant (the downstream side of the restaurant).
