Here’s what retired European woodcarvers do! I’ll EXPOSE their secret technique for whittling their Swiss alpine flower carvings from a single billet of dried aspen or spruce. Straight grain with no knots is critical. The wood has to be dry to curl, but not too dry or it will break. This folk craft is practiced throughout the Alps and there are a variety of styles we can make before they go into the little wooden vases I’ll provide.

All wood and hand tools (hatchet, draw knife, sloyd knife, scissors and tweezers) will be provided.

You’ll go home with several flowers (or at least excellent fire starters).
