Adventures of the Sikuliaq: Living and working on a research ship

Brad Moran, Dean, College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences
This presentation explains how the R/V Sikuliaq allows researchers to study what happens underwater from Alaska to Hawaii. The ship is specifically designed for use in icy water, where climate conditions can make it difficult to learn what plants, animals and water are doing beneath the surface. Scientists may spend up to a month at a time on the ship studying everything from isotopes in sea ice to the noises that marine mammals make.
