Explore Fairbanks is pleased to invite the general public to its annual Holiday Open House on Saturday, December 12 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This family friendly open house celebrates the winter season by showcasing fun Fairbanks winter activities and offering holiday refreshments for all who stop by.

Kids of all ages are invited to make a holiday ornament or homemade gift bag to give to that special someone from 10-1. Explore Fairbanks will provide all the supplies. Also from 10-1, guests can learn all about the art of ice carving and watch Explore Fairbanks’ sculpture as it’s created! A sculptor from Ice Alaska will be present for the entire open house. Starting at 1, there will be a dog mushing presentation with Ryne Olson, to learn about her adventures mushing in the Yukon Quest. At 2, the holiday movie classic “Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer” will be shown in the theater.

Throughout our Holiday Open House, guests will enjoy seasonal music, cookies, candy canes and hot chocolate. Charity Gadapee, the Director of Visitor Services and Partnership Development sums it up like this, “It’s a fun, free family friendly event with free activities to spread the warmth of the holiday spirit while taking the opportunity to experience our world-class exhibits at the Morris Thompson Cultural & Visitors Center. We look forward to seeing you here.”
